Deerfoot Inn & Casino
South Calgary's stay-and-play option: 108 rooms attached to a modest gaming floor, a live music room and easy highway access.

Alberta's largest gaming floor, an attached Marriott and two NHL-sized ice rinks — the most unusual amenity mix in Canadian casino hotels.
River Cree Resort & Casino sits on Enoch Cree Nation land immediately west of Edmonton and is the largest and most complete casino hotel in Alberta. The gaming floor runs to about 120,000 square feet, a 249-room Marriott is attached, and — uniquely — the complex includes two NHL-sized ice rinks that have served as a professional practice facility.
The result is a property with an unusually broad guest mix: gaming visitors, hockey families, conference groups and concert crowds all share the same lobby. It gives River Cree a friendlier, less rarefied atmosphere than a comparable Ontario resort.
Alberta's 18+ gaming age applies, and room rates are markedly lower than Niagara Falls or Vancouver for equivalent quality. For value across a full resort package, this is one of the two or three best options in the country.

Roughly 1,100 slot machines across a large, high-ceilinged floor, spanning penny denominations to a well-used high-limit room. The mix is current, with progressive banks and a strong showing of the newest modern slot machines, and the space never feels as compressed as its Ontario equivalents.
About 40 table games cover blackjack, roulette, baccarat, craps and a set of card games, with limits that stay approachable. The poker room is the best in Alberta, running daily cash games and a regular tournament calendar with professional dealers. A sports lounge covers major fixtures on a screen wall.
A high-limit gaming area with dedicated hosts serves the upper end. VIP service is attentive without the private-salon formality of the largest eastern properties.
Figures are editorial estimates from publicly available information and change over time. Our casino games guide explains each game in detail.

The attached Marriott River Cree provides 249 rooms and suites to a consistent four-star standard — larger than average, well soundproofed and recently refreshed. It is the strongest hotel product in Alberta casino gaming and often priced below comparable Edmonton airport hotels.
Amenities include a pool and fitness centre, spa services, extensive meeting space, the twin ice rinks and a large free parking lot. Everything connects indoors, which matters in an Edmonton January.

Seven or so outlets: a steakhouse, a sports bar, an Asian kitchen, a buffet and casual counters, plus lounge service on the floor. Cooking is solid Alberta-beef territory and portions are large. Edmonton's own restaurant scene is 20 minutes east.

A large event centre programmes concerts, comedy, boxing and MMA cards through the year, and the ice rinks host tournaments and public skating. The mix means there is usually something on that has nothing to do with the casino floor — a genuine advantage for mixed groups.
Hours, dress standards and parking arrangements change seasonally. Confirm with the property before travelling.
The best value casino resort in Canada. River Cree gives you a large floor, a good Marriott, a serious poker room and free parking for meaningfully less than Ontario or BC. Ideal as an Edmonton base or a first stop on a Rockies trip.
