Private salons, high-limit rooms, dedicated hosts and 24/7 VIP service — what these terms mean at Canadian casino hotels, and which properties have the real thing.
Every casino in this guide separates its highest limits from the main floor in some way, but there are two distinct arrangements and properties are not always precise about which they have. The difference is worth understanding before you travel for it.
A high-limit area is a designated part of the main gaming floor — higher table minimums, higher-denomination slot machines, a dedicated attendant, and usually a rope or a low partition. It is quieter than the main floor and that is the extent of the separation. Most mid-sized Canadian properties have this: Hard Rock Vancouver, Cascades Langley, River Cree, Cowboys, Casino Regina, Club Regent, Casino Nova Scotia.
A private gaming salon is a separate room, usually behind a door, with its own cage service, its own staff and its own admission threshold. Limits are substantially higher, the pace is slower, and there is typically food and drink service inside. Seven of the seventeen properties we review have genuine salons: Fallsview, Caesars Windsor, Great Canadian Casino Resort Toronto, River Rock, Parq Vancouver, Casino de Montréal and Casino du Lac-Leamy.
The highest table limits in Canada are in British Columbia, at River Rock and Parq Vancouver, driven by a deep regional baccarat and mini-baccarat culture. Ontario has the largest floors; BC has the biggest bets.
The phrase appears in a lot of casino hotel marketing and means something fairly specific: a dedicated host, reachable at any hour, who handles arrangements on your behalf. In practice that is restaurant reservations without a queue, theatre tickets after they have sold out, room upgrades, airport transfers, late check-out and a direct line rather than the switchboard.
It is a hospitality service rather than a gaming one, and the distinction matters. A host cannot change limits, cannot extend credit at most Canadian properties, and has no influence over any game. What they can do is remove friction from everything around the floor — which is genuinely the most valuable part of the arrangement for anyone spending three nights at a large resort.
Access is normally through a loyalty tier, reached by recorded play over time, rather than by a single large buy-in. A few properties will extend host service to a guest with a substantial single-visit spend, but that is discretionary and not advertised.
Every property in this guide runs a free loyalty programme. Signing up takes a few minutes at a desk on the floor and requires photo identification. There is no cost and no minimum spend to join the base tier.
Tiers are earned on recorded play — slot machine sessions tracked by the card, table play rated by the pit. Benefits scale from the practical (parking validation, dining discounts, birthday offers) through the useful (room upgrades, priority theatre access, event invitations) to the genuinely valuable at the top (dedicated hosts, private salon admission, complimentary suites during quiet periods).
Two structural details worth knowing. Programmes are often shared across properties under one operator — the two Niagara Falls casinos share a programme, as do the Great Canadian and Cascades properties, and Caesars Windsor participates in a wider international network that recognises status at affiliated resorts. And tiers expire: status earned in one year generally has to be re-earned in the next.

A loyalty programme is a marketing instrument. Its purpose is to increase recorded play, and the benefits are calibrated to that. Joining one is sensible for the dining and parking value on a trip you were taking anyway.
