Overview

Casino Regina occupies Regina's former Union Station, built in 1912 and converted for gaming in the mid-1990s. The grand hall, the clock and much of the original detailing survive, and the Show Lounge stages touring acts in what was once the station concourse. No other casino in western Canada has a building like it.

The floor itself is mid-sized — roughly 750 slot machines and 30 tables — and operated by the Saskatchewan Gaming Corporation under provincial regulation. It serves a local market, so the pace is unhurried and the minimums are low.

There is no attached hotel, but downtown Regina hotels are within a few minutes' walk, and Saskatchewan is among the cheapest provinces in Canada for a room. Gaming age is 19+.

The casino floor

Around 750 slot machines are arranged through the old station's halls and side rooms, which gives the floor an unusual amount of architectural character. Denominations run from penny to a compact high-limit area, and the mix of titles is kept reasonably current.

About 30 table games cover blackjack, roulette, baccarat and a small card game selection at approachable minimums. The poker room runs cash games and regular tournaments with professional dealers and is well supported locally. A sports lounge covers major fixtures, and Roughriders game days are the busiest of the year.

High-limit play is served by a designated area rather than private salons.

There are no rooms at the casino. Downtown Regina hotels — including several full-service properties — are a 5- to 10-minute walk, and Victoria Park and the legislative district are close by.

The Show Lounge is the property's strongest card, programming touring music, comedy and tribute acts in the historic concourse — an unusually atmospheric room for a mid-sized casino. The calendar is busy for a city of Regina's size.
